As Nigeria prepares for its next political milestone, the fundamental question facing its democratic ecosystem is clear: How do we translate civic participation into tangible societal value?
To answer this, The Unifiers Movement (TUM), in collaboration with the Center for African International Relations (CAIR), is proud to announce the National Democratic Dialogue (NDD), taking place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria.
With the 2027 General Elections on the horizon, this high-level convening is designed to bridge the gap between policy makers and citizens. It offers a structured platform to advocate for deep, systemic electoral and legislative reforms.
The Core Focus: Moving "From Votes to Value"
The theme of this year's dialogue directly addresses the core challenges of contemporary governance:
Topic: From Votes to Value: Rebuilding Trust & Confidence to Get Our Democracy Right in 2027
Theme: Our Votes, Our Future: Ballot. Trust. Value.
Focus Area: Deepening democratic systems, strengthening the integrity of the ballot, and restoring public trust in democratic institutions.
At a time when citizens are seeking greater alignment between their electoral participation and governance outcomes, this event acts as a critical space for collaborative, action-oriented policy design.

Shaping Reforms through High-Level Collaboration
A major highlight of the National Democratic Dialogue is its focus on policy implementation. The leadership of the National Assembly—including the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives—has been formally invited to deliver goodwill messages and contribute to the discussions.
Through Module 3: Legislative Oversight & Electoral Reform, lawmakers, constitutional experts, civil society organizations, and international partners will collaborate to map out practical legal and institutional reforms. These discussions will target:
Strengthening electoral laws and guidelines ahead of 2027.
Deepening accountability within electoral management bodies.
Safeguarding the independence of oversight institutions to protect democratic processes.
Why You Should Attend
Whether you are a policy maker, diplomat, academic, or civic organizer, the National Democratic Dialogue offers a unique platform to:
Engage with Key Stakeholders: Network directly with legislative leaders, civil society advocates, and international relations specialists.
Contribute to Practical Reforms: Participate in structured panel sessions aimed at designing actionable recommendations for Nigeria’s electoral landscape.
Support Democratic Progress: Join a growing coalition dedicated to transparency, accountability, and national unity.
